Cross Training

Most of us have been injured during running at some time or another.  Remember the frustration of injury:  you lose fitness, muscle tone, and we won't even mention the weight gain.

Did you know there is a great alternative to running which could enhance your fitness and upper body strength?  As a matter of fact you don't even have to be injured to enjoy this cross training exercise:  sea kayaking.

Sounds daunting and dangerous?  Would you feel better if we told you people of all ages sea kayak, and that it is not as dangerous as it sounds:  kayaking should be done with a minimum of 2 people, making the sport safer and social.

If you think you have run everywhere and seen everything think again.  Kayaking gives you a completely unique perspective of NZ, guaranteed you will see places you have never seen before.  Wildlife, untamed shorelines, relaxing around a good pot of food on some uninhabited island.

If this sounds like you why don't you contact your nearest Canoe and Kayak shop, they have everything you need to get you started:  the right gear, advice, courses, and last but not least, good coffee.  Have a look at www.canoeandkayak.co.nz to see if this type of cross training would benefit your running performance.
