Long-distance running enabled Wesley Korir to escape the grinding poverty of Kenya. After winning many races in America including the Boston Marathon, he risks it all to return home to help his fellow Kenyans to create better lives for themselves.
In what proves to be the most challenging race of his career, Korir runs for a seat in the Kenyan parliament, taking on a wellfinanced, big-party candidate. He attempts to balance the frenzy of campaigning with the demands of marathon training.
Transcend tells the story of how Korir uses the elusive spiritual energy forged in the intense rigour of long-distance running to transform Kenya, a country that has done more than any other to change the face of the marathon.
