Wellington to Hutt Walkway and Cycleway
May 25, 2015 at 5:00 PM
The report, which summarises public and stakeholder feedback, shows there is significant support for improving walking and cycling between Wellington and the Hutt Valley with 778 responses received.
By far, the feedback also demonstrates significant support for a seaside walking and cycling option because it would be a consistent width and people viewed it as safer and more pleasant.
More details about the consultation report are available in the attached letter or on the project website at www.nzta.govt.nz/w2hvlink if you wish to review them. A copy of the report can be downloaded from here also from the 26th May.
With the consultation report’s release, the next steps on the project will be to finalise a detailed business case for the Cycleway, Walkway and Resilience Project and for the Transport Agency and its partners to agree on a preferred option. This is expected to be completed in the next two to three months. Once this has happened NZTA will be working towards applying for consent for our preferred option in 2016.
